Abstract

PURPOSE:To avert the problems of hemolysis, etc. in the sepn. of sera as well by contg. a specific thixotropic gel-like separating agent in the state wherein a recess is formed on the top surface in the bottom part of a bottomed blood letting tube. CONSTITUTION:A specific gravity and viscosity controlling agent such as an aliphat. amine deriv. of smectite clay and, if necessary, a structure forming agent, a nonionic surfactant, etc. are added and kneaded to and with the alpha- olefin-maleic diester copolymer of 10,000-80,000cps viscosities (25 deg.C) of the formula (R1 is C2-58 alkyl; R2-R3 are methyl, ethyl, butyl, 2-ethyl hexyl; n is an integer), whereby a thixotropyic gel-like separating agent 2 of 250,000-800,000cps vicosities (25 deg.C) and 1.035-1.055 specific gravities is obtd. Thence, said agent 2 is contained in the bottom part of a bottomed blood letting tube 1, and the fluid is sprayed onto the surface of the agent 2 through a fine nozzle 6 so that a recess 3 of which the diameter of the top surface is 0.15-0.7 times the bore of the tube and the depth is 0.13, 0.65 times the thickness of the separating agent is formed.
