Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce ingots continuously by preparing molds which can be split and disassembled longitudinally, and connecting the other mold to the upper part of one mold while casting in this mold is carried out thereby casting the ingots continuously. CONSTITUTION:Molds 1, 2 which can be split and disassembled longitudinally with water-cooled metal mold segments 3, 4 and 5, 6 are prepared, and while casting is carried out in the mold 1, the mold 2 is connected to the upper part of the mold 1. Thence, the mold 2 is assembled by cylinder and piston devices 24, 25, and the mold 1 is disassembled by cylinder and piston devices 14, 15.
