PURPOSE:To use the photoelectric output of a solid state image pickup element as continuous photometric information by transferring the charges generated from the whole or part of photodetecting elements collectively to the 2nd output terminal, and obtaining photoelectric signals from this 2nd output terminal at the time of measurement. CONSTITUTION:A solid state image pickup element 11 including plural pieces of photodetecting elements a1-1-am-n which accumulate the charges generated according to the intensities of incident light and the 1st transfer means TG1-1-TG1-n, Sv1-Svn, Sh which transfer the accumulated charges respectively as image signals from these elements successively to the 1st output terminal 11h is used, and the 2nd transfer means TG2-1-TG2-n, OD1-ODn which transfer the charges generated from the whole or part of the elements a1-1-am-n are provided. At the time of measurement, the 1st transfer means are disabled, and the 2nd transfer means are abled, so that the photometric signals are obtained from the 2nd output terminal 11a.
