Abstract

PURPOSE:To substantially increase the area of a photosensitive part and thus increase the sensitivity for a solid state pickup device of CCD of inter-line system, by providing an overflow train that eliminates a overcharge in common to plural photosensitive parts. CONSTITUTION:Overflow trains 23 (23-1-23-3) are provided among plural photosensitive parts 42 (42-1-42-6) to make the charge overflown from the part 42 flow. At the same time, the transfer parts 21 (21-1-21-5) are provided at the opposite side to the train 23 at the part 42. Thus the electric charge generated to each picture element by the incident light to the part 42-1 is shifted immediately to the transfer part 21-1 which is provided adjacently to the vertical blanking period. Plural electrodes are provided at the part 21-1 to each picture element, and the prescribed pulse voltage is applied to each electrode to transfer the electric charge sequentially to the lower part.
