Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operation during vehicle running and as well to enhance safety of the vehicle, by providing a button for pulling a key in the position remote from a key controlling position so that steering lock may not be made unless the control of the button and the rotation of the key are simultaneously undergone. CONSTITUTION:A cam 10 is rotated through a rotor 3 by rotating a key 5, and, therefore a latch 11 is pulled up from a cut-out portion in a steering shaft 9 so that the lock of the shaft 9 is released. Then, a rotary shaft 14 formed on a cam 10 is coupled to a second rotor 16 of an ignition switch 15, and a coil spring 18 is disposed in an annular groove 17 formed in the rotor 16. Meanwhile, an engaging member 21 fixed with a knob 23 is arranged in a housing 19 of a switch 15 and is biased inward by means of a spring 22. The engaging member 21 is engaged with one end 18' of a spring 18 when the lock of the shaft 9 is released, thereby the key 5 cannot be rotated in the locking direction of the shaft 9, but the key 5 may be rotated when the engagement between the engaging member 21 and the one end 18' of the spring 18 is released by pulling up the knob 23.
