Abstract

CONSTITUTION:In the rhodium-supported catalyst used in purifying an exhaust gas of an automobile or the like, a carrier such as activated alumina or cordierite is preliminarily treated with an alkali solution free from a metal such as ammonia or the like and, after treatment, immersed in a rhodium chloride solution, dried and fired. By this method, because rhodium is supported only in the vicinity of the surface of said carrier, a rhodium content in the inside of the carrier can be reduced.
