Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend an oscillation period by providing a PUT oscillating circuit with a comparator which detects a drop in gate voltage and forms a short circuit across a capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A relaxation oscillating circuit consists of a voltage-dividing resistances R1 and R2 for gate voltage supply, an anode resistance R3, a cathode resistance R4, a capacitor C, and a PUT. A comparator CP whose inverted input terminal connects with a voltagedivision point between resistances R5 and R6 is provided; its noninverted input terminal connects with the gate of the PUT, and the output terminal connects with the anode of the PUT. When an anode potential VA rises above a gate potential VG as the capacitor C is charged, the PUT conducts to discharge the capacitor C through the resistance R4. As this discharging advances, the gate potential VG drops and when it drops below a potential Vc at a connection point between the resistances R5 and R6, the output terminal of the comparator CP is grounded, thus discharging the capacitor C completely.
