Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a binder for a mold hardened by gaseous CO2 of high storage stability by mixing an aq. sodium polyacrylate soln., a hydroxide of polyvalent metal and an emulsion. CONSTITUTION:A binder for a mold hardened by the gaseous CO2 is produced by adding 10-60pts.wt. hydroxide of polyvalent metal and 2.5-40pts.wt. an emulsion to 100pts.wt. an aq. polyacrylic soln. (about 25% solid content). Hydroxides of Mg, Ca, Zn, Ba, Al, etc. are used as the hydroxides of polyvalent metal and rubber latex, more particularly, styrene-butadiene copolymer latex are preferable for the emulsion. In some cases, polyhydric alcohol is added to the said composition.
