Abstract
898,867. Mould and core materials. GLACIER METAL CO. Ltd. Feb. 12, 1960 [April 14, 1959], No. 12686/59. Class 83 (1). A CO<SP>3</SP> moulding sand containing sodium silicate and with a clay content of not more than 15% by weight, contains also a salt, other than sodium silicate, capable of undergoing a base exchange with calcium ions in the clay. Suitable salts are sodium sulphate, carbonate, chloride, bicarbonate and hydroxide and potassium sulphate, chloride, bicarbonate, hydroxide, chlorate and carbonate. The sand may be used as a facing layer and backed by a normal claybonded sand.
