Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high permeability magnetic material free from brittleness by providing a mixed grain structure composed of fine srystal grains and coarse grains of α-iron phase by γ→α transformation to a P-contg. sintered iron body showing the highest magnetic characteristic values.
CONSTITUTION: When a sintered iron body contg. 0.5W1.4wt% P is obtd., the temp. raising speed of the sintered body is regulated to ≥ about 10°C/sec, or about 0.005W0.05wt% C is added beforehand. The sintering of only α-iron phase proceeds several 100 times as rapidly as that of γ-iron phase, and crystals grow larger, so a coarse structure is formed as a whole. In case of the sintering of α+γ phase, since α-iron precipitated from γ-iron is precipitated from the grain boundaries of the γ-iron, fine grains appear, and a mixed grain structure composed of coarse crystals and fine crystals is provided.
