PURPOSE:A cosmetic having improved quality stability to grinding and pulverizing during cosmetic preparation, transparent feeling, gloss, and perfume holding properties, by adding clay minerals of talc like mica cleaved in laminar form and/or clay minerals of the kaolin type like mica as raw material powder. CONSTITUTION:Clay minerals of talc like mica and/or of the kaolin type like mica having a thickness preferably <=1mu and an average particle diameter 3-30mu, obtained by cleaving clay minerals of talc and/or of the kaolin type into liminar form are used as raw material powder for cosmetic, especially for powdered cosmetic. Since the clay minerals like mica are so-called flaky powder having small thickness, uniformness, and arranged directions of crystallography axes, they have high elasticity, durability against grinding and pulverizing during cosmetic preparation, small quality variation and stability. From the above-mentioned characteristics, etc., the cosmetic constaining the minerals has improved transparent feeling, gloss, perfume holding properties, and good feeling in use.
