Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve work efficiency by adding an exciting current regulating circuit and a phase regulating circuit to an electric power supply unit of a solenoid coil around a welding electrode and thereby controlling flow of molten metal or shaking of welding arc.
CONSTITUTION: An electric power supply unit 10 for a transformer 5 for welding electrode 5 and a solenoid coil 9 for vertical magnetic field exciting are connected to a three-phase electric power source 1. A circuit that regulates magnitude of exciting current, a phase regulating circuit that can change phase angle continuously between 0W180°, and a phase inversing circuit that can inverse the phase of exciting alternating current by 180° at a frequency of 50Hz are incorporated in the power supply unit 10. By this way, alternating current controlled optionally for current value, phase angle and inversional frequency can be supplied to the solenoid 9. If the solenoid coil 9 is replaced by a solenoid coil 9' for horizontal magnetic field exciting, shaking motion can be given to the welding arc.
