Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent eroneous actions of clamping elements and contrive to reduce the size of the titled device by a method wherein a rectilinear motion and a swiveling motion are accurately combined with each other by two sets of a hydraulic cylinder and a piston when operating the clamping device. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical piston 6b for driving an operating shaft 1 in the vertical direction and a piston 7b for swiveling the operating shaft 1 are placed on opposite sides of an inside flange part 7a of an outer cylinder 6a, and the operating shaft 1 with its upper part fixed to a spring supporting plate 10 is provided inside the cylinder. At the lower end of the shaft 1 is provided the clamping elements 3. When unclamping, a hydraulic pressure functions through an oil passage 7e to firstly lower the piston 6b against springs 8, 9 (with the shaft 1 also lowered) and followingly raise the piston 7b against the spring 9. At this point, the shaft 1 is swiveled by 90 by the function of a cam wheel 11 of the shaft 1 and a cam groove 12 of the piston 7b, thereby releasing the clamp. The sequence of the above operations is determined by the forces of the springs 8, 9.
