CONSTITUTION:A voltage waveform v2 and a voltage waveform v1 having a time lag against the voltage waveform v2 are sliced around the position where each instantaneous value becomes zero volt by waveform shaping circuits 1, 2, and square waves V1, V2 are obtained. Subsequently, phase of the voltage waveform v1 against the voltage waveform v2 is detected by taking exclusive OR of the square waves V1, V2 by an exclusive OR circuit 5, and detecting the pulse width of an output pulse V0 by a pulse width detecting circuit 4'. In this way, the resolution against the phase variation is raised, the phase detection is executed with high accuracy in the actual electric system such as a power-factor controller and a power-factor display device.
