Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a product of consistent quality by quickly heating both edge parts of a hot-rolled material through high frequency induction heating during its finish rolling process and rolling the same at a prescribed uniform temp. CONSTITUTION:Side guides 6 of a rolling mill are constituted of nonmagnetic materials 10, and magnetic paths are formed by magnetic materials 11 along the outer side surfaces of the guides 6. Electric windings 12 by conductive materials such as copper pipes are applied to part of the materials 11. The edge parts of a strip 3 are inductively heated by using the inductors formed in one body with the guides 6 by vertically opposing to both ends of the materials 11 forming magnetic paths in the notched parts in the parts of the guides 6 in proximity to rolling rolls 2, 2. As a result, the temp. compensation of the edge parts is made possible, a heating furnace is operated at low temps., and the decrease in yield owing to the scale of the heating furnace is considerably improved. Here, 1, 2 in the figure denote the rolling rolls of front stage and rear stage stands, 4 denotes an outlet guide and 5 a looper, respectively.
