Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively heat, and to continuously manufacture the high grade forge welded pipe, by arranging a pair of induction heating coils on both of the front and the back sides of the skelp.
CONSTITUTION: The skelp S is carried in the arrowed direction and is introduced into the heating furnace F; the middle zone of the skelp S is heated to temperatures required for the bending work of the forming roll FR or the squeezing work of the squeeze roll group, and both edges El, Er are heated to temperatures lower than the forge welding temperature; after that, the skelp S is pulled away from the heating furnace F. Next, the skelp S is passed between the upper and lower coils Cu, Cd, of the heater H, where the edges El, Er are heated to the forge welding temperature.
