Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve collecting efficiency for fine particles, by arranging magnetic bodies, having fixed sectional shapes respectively, at a special distance between both end surfaces of the bodies regularly in a filter-vessel for a magnetic separator. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic bodies 11 having slender rectangular cross-sections of each 2l width which is >=4 times of thickness 2t, are arranged in large numbers so as to make each distance 2r between both end surfaces of the bodies 0.2- 0.5 times of the width 2l of the body, in a filter-vessel for a magnetic filter. A logically and experimentally analyzed result for the relations among three principal items of a sharply-inclining magnetic-field separator, that is; (1) the surface magnetic pole of a magnetic body, (2) magnetic field gradient between meshes of the magnetic bodies, and (3) fine particle collecting efficiency at the filter, shows clearly that the arrangement of the magnetic bodies 11 as above- mentioned is most effective for the improvement of fine-particle-collecting efficiency.
