Abstract

PURPOSE: To elminate the possibility of liquid leakage and the sticking of valves in a membrane separator for liquid contg. adhesive or tacky materials, by preventing the failure of a membrane owing to the negative pressure on the upper stream side of the membrane when the operation is stopped only through the operation of a stop valve.
CONSTITUTION: Treating liquid is pumped 2 from a tank to the upper stream side of the membrane of a membrane separator 1. Here, the liquid components permeate through the membrane and are recovered into a separate tank through a discharge pipe 5. During this time, a stop valve 6 is held opened and a safety valve 8 held closed. When the valve 6 is closed extremely gradually by driving a motor 7 to stop the operation of the membrane sepn., the amt. of the treating liquid to be supplied to the upper stream side of the membrane of the device 1 decreases gradually and it goes zero when the valve 6 is fully shut. At the same time, negative pressure is developed gradually in a delivery piping 3 on the discharge side of the pump 2 on gradual closing of the valve 6, and when it rises above a certain pressure, the valve 8 opens to circulate the treating liquid delivered from the pump 2 to a pressure release piping 9. Finally, the liquid flow in the device 1 is stopped completely, after which the pump 2 is turned off.
