Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the electrical transmission of a thin original having enough reolution with variable magnification, by varying the extent of movement in a subscanning direction according to the extent of magnification variation when an optical projected image in a main scanning direction varies in magnification. CONSTITUTION:When a lever 8 is pressed forward, a variable magnification lens 5 is inserted into an optical path to project an expanded image on a CCD7, and an original is expanded accordingly in a main scanning direction. At this time, the projection 9 of the lever 8 presses the lever 11 of a microswitch 10, which turns on. A control circuit 18 sends a driving pulse to a driving pulse generating circuit 19 in response to the operation of the switch 10 to drive a step motor 3, thereby shifting the subscanning position of the original according to the extent of the magnification variation. This subscanning-directional extent of movement corresponds to, e.g., the reciprocal number of the magnification variation and when an expansion ratio is, e.g., 4/3, the extent of movement is transferred to 3/4.
