Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce copying time by highly accelerating the scanning member during the course between the starting point of the movement and the original detecting point on the outward trip of the scanning member and by setting the maximum speed of the scanning member to a speed which is faster than the speed of the scanning member when the light of image of originals are exposed. CONSTITUTION:An original 2 is placed on a platen 1 and a exposing light source 6 is installed below the platen 1. This light source 6 moves forward along the direction of an arrow (a) and returns in the opposite direction of the arrow (a). The first bracket for scanning 9 on which the light source 6, a reflector 7, the first mirror 8, a size sensor 10, etc., are placed, and the second bracket for scanning 16 on which the second mirror 15 is placed, are synchronously moved in the directions of arrows (a) and (d) in a ratio of 2:1.
