Abstract
PURPOSE: To convert an insoluble or slightly soluble metal or alloy into a uniform material by plating the granular matrix metal of the metal or alloy with a metal to form a metallic layer on the surface, putting the granular aggregate in a case, and hot-extruding it.
CONSTITUTION: The granular matrix metal of an elementally insoluble metal or alloy such as an Ag-Ni alloy or a metal or alloy which is slightly soluble owing to a large m.p. difference such as an Ag-Mo or Cu-W alloy is plated with a metal by electroplating, chemical plating, vapor deposition or other method to form a metallic layer on the surface of the matrix metal. This granular aggregate is put in a case, hot-extruded, and cold or hot-worked into a plate or wire rod.
