Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life discharge lamp containing Ga by a method wherin, when a W electrode rod and a Mo lead-in foil are welded together, both are welded through a Ru-Mo alloy or a mixture of Ru and Mo powder as a brazing metal. CONSTITUTION:For instance, Ru powder 2.5mu in the average grain diameter is mixed with Mo powder having about the same grain diameter in the ratio of 2:3 in weight and the mixture is suspended in an organic solvent, or a metacryl acid isobutyl monomer to prepare a suspension. By dropping the suspension on the spot for welding a W electrode rod and a Mo lead-in foil, spot welding is carried out. In so doing, a long-life discharge lamp which may not produce a crack is obtained. Thus workability and the reliability of lamps can be improved.
