Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of corner cracks in the stage of casting an ingot contg. additive elements having high crack sensitivity such as Al, Nb, or the like continuously with a vertically bent type casting machine, by controlling the water to be injected onto the side surface of the ingot to prescribed flow rates. CONSTITUTION:An ingot contg. additive elements of >=1 kind of Al, Nb, V, Cu and Ti is drawn out from the mold of a vertically bent type continuous casting machine. Water corresponding to 25-200l/m<2> flow rates is sprayed to the side faces of the ingot 2 positioned from right below the mold 1 up to the bending start position 3. In this way, the surface temp. of the side faces of the ingot 2 is maintained at prescribed temp. and corner cracks 6 are prevented.
