PURPOSE:To correct distortion of a strip easily with a simple structure by arranging a deflector roll having larger diameter than the work roll and movable relatively to the work roll in the upstream side or downstream side of the last stage work roll for correcting. CONSTITUTION:A band steel 1 is passed through work rolls 2, 3, 4, 5 in a wavelike form in the direction of the arrow B while applying tension in the direction of arrows A, A'. A large-diameter deflector roll C is arranged in the upstream side of the last stage work roll 5, and a deflector 6 is placed in the downstream side. While passing through work rolls, the band steel 1 is bent in an alternate direction, and longitudianl and transverse distortion is corrected. Finally remained longitudinal distortion is removed easily by moving the large-diameter deflector roll C.
