Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a constant-value phase shift over a wide range by mixing a transmission-line signal, a fixed-frequency signal, and a phase-shifted fixed-frequency signal successively and by extracting only a phase-shifted trasmission-line signal from the mixture signal. CONSTITUTION:The output of a fixed-frequency oscillator OSC is phase-shifted by a phase shifter PSF, whose output signal is mixed with a transmission-line signal inputted to a variable phase shifter PHS by a signal mixer MIX1. Then, a band- pass filter BPF1 extracts a required frequency component, which is remixed with the output of the OSC which is not shifted in phase. The mixture signal is passed through a band-pass filter BPF2 to extract only a phase-shifted transmission-line signal. Consequently, the transmission-line signal is shifted in phase as much as the extent that the phase shifter PSF determines without any influence of its frequency, so that the secure simulation of a phasing state is achieved by using a variable phase shifter which makes a constant-value phase shift over a wide range.
