Abstract

PURPOSE:To set the extent of attenuation of a variable attenuator automatically by finding a shift-register set value on the basis of an encoder output level while comparing the peak digital value of an encoder as a constant-level test tone with a reference level. CONSTITUTION:A test tone of a constant-level sine wave is applied to a variable attenuator 1 in maximum attenuation set by a shift register 8, and from an encoder 3, a peak digital value which corresponds to its input level is outputted to a comparator 4. Then, the comparator 4 stores a register 5 with an output digital value which corresponds to the peak of the test tone. The comparator 6, while comparing the peak value of the register 5 with the output digital value of the encoder 3 which corresponds to the peak value of the sine wave with a reference level, subtracts the value of the shift register through a subtractor 7 until both the value conicide with each other. When the value of the shift register 8 is written in a memory 9 and a test mode is reset, a changeover switch SW is changed over to a memory 9 side, so that the extent of attenuation is set.
