Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to conduct a continuous concentrating operation for a long period of time while maintaining a high efficiency of heat transfer, by a method wherein a raw material containing an adherent substance is fed to a thin-film evaporator to remove vaporizable components from the material, and a washing liquid is supplied into the evaporator to wash away deposits adhered thereto. CONSTITUTION:The material to be concentrated is fed into the thin-film evaporator 11 via a feed port 5 for the material so that a thin film of a liquid is formed on the inside wall surface of a heat-transmitting drum 40 by the function of rotary blades 2 and is moved downward through a gap 41. In this case, since the drum 40 is heated by a heat-transmitting medium in a jacket 3, the vaporizable components in the material are evaporated, while the resulting concentrate is discharged through an outlet port 6. On the other hand, the vapors flow upward through the spaces in the drum 40 and are removed via an outlet port 7 for the vapors. In addition, the washing liquid is supplied continuously or intermittently into the lower half part of the drum 40 via an inlet port 44 for the liquid, and washes away the deposits adhered to the drum 40 and the rotary blades 2. A part of the washings is evaporated by the function of the evaporator, the remainder being taken out together with the concentrate.
