Abstract

PURPOSE: A ground stabilizer capable of shortening gelling time without deteriment to coagulation strength and giving a homogeneous gel with large initial strength, which comprises an alkali silicate, cement, slaked lime, NaCO3 and alumina.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. contg. 30W200g/l, in terms of SiO2, of alkali silicate such as sodium silicate is mixed with an aq. slurry contg. 50W250g/l of cement of specific surface area 2,000W4,000cm2/g, 25W250g/l of slaked lime, 0.25W25g/l of MgCO3 and 0.25W25g/l of alumina of particle size ≤100μ.
EFFECT: The purpose of ground reinforcement or water stopping can be accomplished by filling a relatively large pore and an interface between a sticky soil and a sandy layer in the ground with the stabilizer and then injecting a soln.- type chemical of prolonged gelling time into a water-permeable sandy layer.
