Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the strength of treated ground to prevent hardened material from flowing into the ground even where water flow is high by a method wherein a sufactant-contg. slurry is mixed in a mixture of aq. sodium silicate solution, lime, and gypsum, then the mixture is injected into the ground and hardened.
CONSTITUTION: In common soil stabilization, (A) liquid consisting of aq. sodium silicate is mixed with (B) liquid of aqueous slurry consiting of a mixture of (a) lime and (b) gypsum selected from gypsum dihydrate, hemihydrate gypsum, and II-type anhydrous gypsum in weight ratio of (a):(b)=1:3W3:1. The formed mixture is injected into the ground and is hardened within several to ten odd seconds to stabilize the ground. A new system uses (B) liquid that contains (c) nonionic or anionic surfactant. Lime used includes slaked lime, quick lime, or mixture thereof.
