Abstract
PURPOSE:To dispose a hot-wire type air flow meter in such a way as to be subjected to no influence of a back fire and provide a superior metering precision of air flow rate. CONSTITUTION:Because a heating element 32 of a hot-wire type air flow meter and a thermistor 34 are contained in an orifice body 28 which is inserted into a large venturi 26 disposed at the upper side of an injector 18, a pressure of a back fire, if broken out, may be blocked by the upper wall face of an intake cylinder 12 and prevented from direct application on the heating element 32 and the thermistor 34. Thereby, destruction of the heating element 32 and the thermistor 34 caused by the back fire may be prevented. An orifice 30 through which an air proportional to an intake quantity of air is positioned at the upstream of the injector 18 and if an air passage is polluted with fuel or other contaminant substances or different quantities of air may pass therethrough, the orifice has an effect of precisely metering an air flow rate because of said upstream position.
