Abstract

PURPOSE:To supply a lubricant onto the surface of a strip to enable high speed rolling, by coating a thermosetting lubricant consisting essentially of acrylic resin on the surface of a work roll of which surface temp. is kept at 60-80 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:A tanks 2 containing a thermosetting lubricant 21 consisting essentially of acrylic resin is located at the inside of every stand of a rolling mill to coat the lubricant 21 on the surface of a work roll 1 through a dip roll 3 and a coating roll 4. The surface temp. of each roll 1 is kept at 60-80 deg.C to evaporate the liquid contd. in the coated lubricant 21 instantaneously so as to form a thin film having 3-10mum thickness uniformly throughout the whole length of the roll 1. At the same time, the lubricant 21 is supplied to the surface of a strip S uniformly.
