Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the purification efficiency of water by supporting a biscuit made by mixing powders of acid clay, a combustible material and a low grade radioactive material of a range permissible to man and sintering the mixture to a porous adsorbent body in such a way that nearly the entire surface thereof is exposed to water.
CONSTITUTION: Powders of 60% acid clay, 10% combustible material such as sawdust, and 30% uranium oxide ore of a low grade excluded from nuclear materials within a range permissible to man are mixed and the mixture is sintered at 600°C, whereby a sponge-like porous adsorbing biscuit body 1 is obtained. This biscuit 1 is molded to a flat plate or disc shape, and the top and bottom surfaces thereof are formed to rough surfaces having ruggedness. A supporting base 2 is sunk in a water tank 8 provided to the top end of a steel tower 7, and is supported in water 9 by bringing its legs 6 in contact with the bottom surface.
