Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the scattering of a developer by providing sealing members in the spacings between an image carrying body and a developing means as well as a cleaning means and making the developing means and cleaning means attachable and detachable in one body together with the image carrying body and the movable sealing members. CONSTITUTION:Movable sealing members 22, 22' are provided in the lower part of a developing device 5 and a cleaning device 7, and are brought into pressure contact lightly with the surface of a photosensitive drum by means of springs 23, 23'. On the developing device side, the developer dropping downward from a developing roll 51 is sealed by the member 22 and on the cleaning device side the leaking of the developer removed with a blade 71 through the opening part of the cleaning device is sealed by the member 22' which properly seals the lateral sides of the opening part as well. The danger of scattering the developer to the circumference when these devices are attached or detached together with the photosensitive drum is prevented.
