Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a tough backed coat without detriment to a metallic color characteristic of copper, by coating a copper or copper-bronze finished surface from which an oxidized film is removed with a clear epoxy resin and drying the resin by heating at a specified temp. for a specified time.
CONSTITUTION: An oxidized film is removed from the surface of a plated copper pyrophosphate film on a metal surface, a copper ground or copper-bronze finished face by means of physical polishing such as buffing, brushing by use of a scotch brush, etc. or blasting, or chemical polishing. Then, after a clear epoxy resins is applied to the surface by spray, electrostatic coating, etc., it is placed in a drying oven and dried at 170W190°C for about 30W50min. At a period of time shorter or longer than 30W50min, or at a temp. lower or higher than 170W 190°C, color is developed in a strongly reddish tone, resulting in an inferior tint.
