Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly detect a track shift, by executing the control by making track scanning of a 2N frame portion a unit, in case when a rotary head scans an N frame portion and reproduced it as a signal of 1 frame portion. CONSTITUTION:Sampling data of each N pieces of reproducing FM video signals of the first and second fields by rotary heads 17, 18 which have been shifted, for instance, in the upper direction are stored in a memory 9. In case the third and fourth fields are reproduced, the heads 17, 18 are shifted in the lower direction, and the data are stored in the same way. In a voltage comparator 10, data of the thrid and first fields and the fourth and second fields are compared. An output signal of the comparator 10 is stored as a track shift detecting signal in a memory 11, and after that, is supplied to a tracking signal generating circuit 12, in which it is converted to a track shift correcting tracking signal corresponding to each scanning position of the heads 17, 18, and after that, is supplied to an adding circuit 13.
