Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a black film with high corrosion resistance over the surface of a color Braun tube, especially over the surface of a mask or frame made of an iron plate. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask made of carbon steel is subjected to high- temperature oxidation at temperature in the range of 500-575 deg. in an atmospher, which principally consists of carbon dioxide gas, water and oxygen and contains below 200ppm of nitrous acid gas and below 10ppm of sulfurous acid gas, so that an extremely dense blackened film which has a high photographic density and a good characteristic necessary for a Braun tube shadow mask is obtained.
