Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a cheap, rapid and positive confirmation of the ignition in the in-pipe combustion device by a method wherein there is applied a thermo- sensitive material with its one end being placed just over the catalyst and having a low thermal capacity. CONSTITUTION:Light weight thermo-sensitive material 30 with a quite low thermal capacity which is placed just over and near the catalyst 21 is mouned at the side wall of the curled pipe 6 through the thermal insulation ring 31 for decreasing a thermal conduction with the curled pip 6. When the catalyst combustion is started and a hot discharged gas is initiated to discharge, a temperature of the thermo-sensitive material 30 is raised. Upon completion of the combustion, no discharged gas is found and a temperature of the thermo-sensitive material 30 is decreased. With this arrangement, it is possible to provide a stable, cheap and positive check of the ignition of the in-pipe combustion device of which combustion check is hardly performed.
