Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform maximum catalyst purifying effect in a device for burning solid fuel such as briquette or the like at igniting time by exactly detecting exhaust gas temperature without deteriorating a heatsensitive element with exhaust gas and high temperature in the device.
CONSTITUTION: A briquette cooking stove 8 provided with an air intake port 9 at the bottom thereof incorporates a briquette 6 ignited therein, and catalytic layers 2, 3 provided at the upper portion thereof for purifying exhaust gas. Since the catalytic temperature is low at igniting and extinguishing time, electric heaters 1 are interposed, to improve the purifying capacity of the layers 2, 3 with low CO purifying capacity, at the bottom of the catalyst 2 and/between the catalysts 2 and 3. The electric heater 1 is so controlled as to be energized by a heat-sensitive element 4 for sensing the temperature of the catalysts 2, 3 and/or the exhaust gas temperature. The element 4 is internally contained within a protecting tube 5 of high temperature and sulfurous acid gas resistance to thereby accurately detect the exhaust gas temperature.
