Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture an alloy steel having a desired composition at a low cost by adding a molten ordinary steel prepared by a steel making process other than an electric furnace steel making process to a molten alloy steel having a higher composition than the desired composition prepared by the electric furnace steel making process.
CONSTITUTION: Alloy steel scraps or ferroalloy is melted and refined to manufacture an alloy steel having a desired composition. At this time, the melting and refining are carried out in an electric furnace to prepare a molten alloy steel having a higher composition than the desired composition. The composition of this molten steel is then adjusted by adding a molten ordinary steel refined by a steel making process other than the electric furnace steel making process. Thus, the alloy steel having the desired composition is manufactured. By this method the quantity of used electric energy is reduced, and all of alloy steel scraps discharged during the manufacture of a product can be reused effectively.
