Abstract
PURPOSE:To damp the vibration of a small amplitude in a pillar on the basis of the friction among pitches of a coil spring by placing a ring-shaped weight on a coil spring provided on the support of the pillar. CONSTITUTION:When a pillar 1 is vibrated by an earthquake or other external forces, in large amplitude, a weight 5 is dashed to the pillar 1 to give the damping effect of vibration, and the amplitude is reduced. When the amplitude of the pillar 1 is reduced, the weight 5 is not dashed to the pillar 1. At this stage, the energy of the vibration of the pillar 1 can be consumed by the friction generated by contacts among pitches of a coil spring 4 for damping the vibration of a small amplitude of the pillar 1.
