Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve smoothness of surfaces without strain by abrading polycrystal ferrite to be used for magnetic heads with an alkaline liquid of MgO fine powder with a particle size of 0.001-0.05mum, Pb of 0.005 percent or less, and SO4 of 0.1-0.5 percent suspended in pure water. CONSTITUTION:A polisher made from a predetermined material is constituted to be rotatable in an alkaline region abrasion liquid of magnesium oxide (MgO) fine powder with a particle size of 0.001-0.05mum suspended in pure water, and a rotary member on which objects to be abraded is attached to the surface of the polisher, then the objects are abraded while being rotated. The processing efficiency is improved by controlling the contents of lead (Pb) at 0.005 percent or less and sulfur oxide (SO4) at 0.1-0.5 percent among impurities which are inevitably mingled with MgO fine powder during the production process.
