Abstract
PURPOSE: To melt and treat noxious waste exactly and safely, by setting the compounding quantity of a specific metallic oxide to a specific ratio, in case when an oxide mainly consisting of SiO2 are mixed to the waste containing a heavy metal, which cannot be vitrified by means of heating and melting.
CONSTITUTION: Waste which contains a heavy metal, has a property of highly resistant to fusion by heating solely itself, and also cannot be vitrified by heating and melting are mixed with an oxide mainly consisting of SiO2. In this case, molar fractions to SiO2, of a basic oxide (composed of an alkali metal such as Na, K, Ca, etc., and an alkaline earth metallic oxide are included, hereinafter noted as RO) contained in a mixture, and other metallic oxide (an oxide of Al, Fe, etc., hereinafter noted as R'O) except for SiO2, RO and other acidic exide are set to 0.2<RO/SiO2<1 and R'O/SiO2<1, this mixture is brought to the heating and melting treatment, and its noxious heavy metal is sealed in a vitrified substance.
