Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat and wear resistant build-up welding material applied to various tools for hot forming by adding specified amounts of C, Cr, Mo, W, Ni, Cu, etc. to Fe. CONSTITUTION:An alloy having a composition consisting of 0.3-2.0% C, <2.0% Si, <2.0% Mn, 15-40% Cr, 20-60% Ni or 20-60% in total of Ni and <=10% Co, <10.0% Cu, 0.5-6.0% Mo and/or W and the balance Fe is used as a build- up welding materal for a tool for forming used in the severe environment of a hot extrusion method, a hot rolling method or a method of manufacturing a seamless steel pipe in a hot state. To the composition may be added 0.3-5.0% one or more among Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta and Al. Ni, Cu, etc. to austenitize the matrix, and carbides of Cr, Mo, W, etc. enhance the high-temp. strength and wear resistance.
