Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the integrated production from molten metal up to shot on an industrial scale possible by constituting an installation for production of metallic shot by an oil-water cooling system of a molten metal flowing-down device, a cooling tank in a water tank, a shot carrying-out machine, an oil cooler, a purifier, etc. CONSTITUTION:For example, molten ferronickel passes through a trough 6 from a freely tiltable molten metal holding device 5 of a flowing-down device 3 above a cooling tank 1, and is poured into a tray 7, from the rugged outlet lip 8 whereof it overflows gently as fine flow 9. The flowed down molten metal collides againt the oil layer 10 in the upper part of the tank 1, and begins to solidify in the form approximate to a spherical shape under gentle cooling. After the passage through the oil layer, the solidification is perfect by the cooling effect of a water layer 12. Since the oil layer is elevated temp. during operation and sludge accumulates therein, it is circulated properly through a purifier 13 and a cooler 14. The tank 1 is immersed in a water tank 20 for the purpose of cooling or the like and the shot 16 accumulated on the bottom of the tank 1 is conveyed to the outside of the tank 20 with a conveyor 22. Since steam and the like evaporate during the solidification of the shot and this emulsifies and deteriorates the oil, provision of a baffle plate 30 and venting holes 31 is recommended to prevent this.
