Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the thermal stability of a polyamide-imide resin during melting without deteriorating characteristics which said resin originally possesses, by blending an org. phosphite with an arom. polyamide-imide.
CONSTITUTION: 0.001W10pts.wt. org. phosphite of formula III (wherein X is O, S; R6, R7, R8 are each an arom. org. group, an aliph. org. group) such as triethyl phosphite or triphenyl phosphite, is blended with 100pts.wt. arom. polyamide-imide (such as the compd. of formulaIor II) obtd. by reacting an arom. tricarboxylic acid anhydride with an arom. diisocyanate or an arom. diamine, to produce the desired polyamide-imide resin compsn. Molded articles obtd. from this compsn. has excellent resistance to heat and chemicals, mechanical and electrical characteristics, etc. and are suitable for use as automobile parts, electronic parts, etc.
