Abstract

PURPOSE: To extremely enhance oxygen absorbing efficiency by a method wherein raw water is passed through a floated packing layer with specific gravity of below 1.0 provided with an air diffusing apparatus in a downwardly directed stream as well as an oxygen containing gas is supplied to the packing layer from the air diffusing apparatus in an upwardly directed stream.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water 1' is flowed into the floated packing layer 6 comprising a floated filter material having specific gravity of below 1.0 and containing microorganism adhered to the surface thereof and BOD therein is removed by microorganism in the layer 6 and oxygen supplied while air bubbles 10 emitted from an air diffusing pipe 8 is slowly raised through the packing layer 6. Air 17' is supplied to the air diffusing pipe 8 from an air supply pipe 17 through the inside of a rotary shaft 19. Only by passing raw water 1' through the floated packing layer 6 once, BOD is highly removed as well as, because filtering action of SS is attained simultaneously in the floated packing layer 6, clarified supernatant 2' is obtained. A treating water outflow pipe 2 may be erected upright from a float inhibiting plate 7.
