Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Contaminated water is carried through a packed layer at a speed LV 2W10m/h and a BOD volume load 2.5kg/m3.d under an aerobic atomsphere. The packed layer contains fillers of a real specific gravity 2.2 or less and grain sizes 2W10mm in diameter, and filters of a real specific gravity 2.2 or more and grain sizes 1W5mm in diameter. In the packed layer, pollutant in the water are decomposed. In this process, it is not necessary to cycle a sludge, and bulking does not occur. Besides, it is not necessary to provide a precipitation separator owing to the filtering ability of the packed layer.
