Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a titled member of superior electrophotographic characteristics and use durability by providing a photoconductive layer consisting of a specific amorphous material on a substrate for electrophotography having an Al2O3 surface contg. water of crystallization. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 102 of 1-100mu thickness consisting basically of Si contg. H and/or halogen and 0.005-20atom% O is provided on a substrate 101 for electrophotography having an Al2O3 surface contg. water of crystallization of 0.05-10mu thicknesses. Thereby, residual potential is not observed at all or is observed to a negligible extent with high photosensitivity and high dark resistance, electric charge holding capacity during charging treatment is improved, the occurrence of floating and stripping from the substrate and layer cracking is obviated, mechanical and electrical contact as well as adhesiveness are improved, the degration in initial characteristics is not observed despite long-term repetitive use, and the toner transfer images of high quality and high resolution are obtained.
