USE: A material for the production of a bifunctional cyclodextrin useful as an artificial enzymatic catalyst such as a hydrolysis catalyst, decarboxylation catalyst or reduction catalyst or as a stabilizing agent for pharmaceuticals or agricultural chemicals.
PREPARATION: The compound of formulaIis prepared by dissolving β-cyclodextrin in about 8W100 times by weight of a solvent such as pyridine or dimethylformamide, adding thereto at least 0.5 equivalent., per eq. β-cyclodestrin, trans- stilbene-4,4'-disulfonyl halide and reacting the mixture at about 25W110°C.
