Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate cavitation during steady state running and to enhance speed performance as well by providing opening portions in both of a propeller boss and a flange of a lower casing, respectively, so that exhaust gas may be discharged only when the opening portions are aligned together. CONSTITUTION:A slit 46 is formed in a part of a flange portion 40 in a lower casing 18. Meanwhile, an aperture 44 is formed in a propeller boss 20. Therefore, exhaust gas from an engine is discharged only when the slit 46 is aligned with the aperture 44. With this arrangement, the discharge amount of exhaust gas is increased during starting and accelerating operation so that cavitation is created and water drag is reduced, since the opening is held in a relatively long time. The cavitation is eliminated and speed performance is enhanced during high speed running, since the discharge amount of exhaust gas is decreased.
